This course is designed for Japanese mediators, attorneys, and ADR professionals working or desiring to work in English-language mediation environments. It is a skills-based professional training focused specifically on mediation communication—not general English and not mediation theory.
本研修は、英語による調停の場で活動している、または今後活動したいと考えている日本の調停人、弁護士、ADR専門家を対象としたプログラムです。一般的な英語学習や調停理論ではなく、「調停におけるコミュニケーション」に特化した実務的なスキルトレーニングです。

Instructor Profile/講師プロフィール
マーク・ラスマン（JD、LL.M、認定調協人）
マーク・ラスマン（JD、LL.M）は、欧州およびユーラシア地域において、複雑な多国間の司法および紛争解決プロジェクトを主導してきた18年以上の経験を有する、研修を受けた調停人かつ国際法務専門家です。米国における弁護士資格を有し、7年以上の国内訴訟実務経験を有しています。また、英国ノッティンガム大学において国際法のLL.Mを取得し、さらにコロラド大学ロースクールおよびカリフォルニア大学バークレー校において学位を取得しています。ラスマンは、確かな法的専門知識と、実務的なコミュニケーション能力を兼ね備えています。ハーバード大学エクステンションスクールにおいて集中的な調停研修を修了し、さらにシンガポールのSAGE Mediationが提供する国際商事調停プログラムを修了しています。加えて、シンガポール国際調停機関より認定レベル1調停人資格を取得しています。
さらに、ラスマンは、日本においても法務、教育、およびコンサルティング分野で約3年間の実務経験を有しています。在日米国大使館を通じて設立された官民パートナーシップであるTOMODACHIイニシアチブのエグゼクティブ・ディレクターを務めたほか、テンプル大学ロースクール・ジャパンキャンパスにおいてリーガル・リサーチおよびライティングを担当し、東京弁護士会において比較法実務に関する講義を行いました。また、東京海上日動、住友化学、アクセンチュア、AIGなどの組織において、上機専門職を対象としたエグゼクティブ向け法務・ビジネス英語研修を提供してきました。国際的な経験および日本での実務経験の双方を踏まえ、ラスマンの研修は、日本の調停人が国内外の調停実務において実践的かつ専門的な英語運用能力を習得できるよう設計されています。
Marc Lassman, JD, LL.M, Certified Mediator
Marc Lassman, JD, LL.M., is a trained mediator and international legal professional with over 18 years of experience leading complex multinational justice and dispute-resolution initiatives across Europe and Eurasia. A licensed U.S. attorney with more than seven years of domestic litigation experience, he holds an LL.M. in International Law from the University of Nottingham in the UK, as well as degrees from the University of Colorado (Law) and the University of California, Berkeley (Bachelor's degree). Marc combines strong legal expertise with practical, negotiation-focused communication skills. He has completed intensive mediation training at Harvard University Extension School and international commercial mediation programs with SAGE Mediation in Singapore. Further, he is a Certified Level 1 Mediator with the Singapore International Mediation Institute.
Marc also brings approximately three years of professional experience working in Japan across legal, academic, and consulting roles. He served as Executive Director of the TOMODACHI Initiative (a public-private partnership established through the U.S. Embassy in Japan), taught Legal Research and Writing at Temple University Law School Japan, and lectured for the Tokyo Bar Association on comparative legal practice. In addition, he has provided executive-level legal and business English training to senior professionals at organizations including Tokio Marine, Sumitomo Chemical, Accenture, and AIG. Drawing on both international and Japan-based experience, Marc’s training is designed specifically to support Japanese mediators in developing practical, professional English skills for domestic and cross-border mediation practice.
